  1. Laura:

We are so afraid to make mistakes because we are afraid of being judged – that people will think less of us. In the back of our minds we all want to be perfect.

But as corny as it sounds, practice makes perfect. And people usually make mistakes while practicing.

  2. Exsanguinator:

Because of the shame of knowing that we didn’t learn from the last 20 times we made that mistake.

we are afraid to make mistakes because the world expects us to be perfect. if you mess up, the image is given we are worthless and useless.

we are afraid that we will not learn from our mstakes and we will stay in the pattern of falling from our mistakes and never get back up to stand tall and look at our mistakes froma different wise perspective.

because we dont want the outsome, the results of what the mistakes.

  18. Dani:

Because once we make a mistake, we’re afraid it will happen again. And again. Because we’re afraid that this one mistake will set a pattern for the future. Because we’re afraid that once we start to fail, we will become failures.

  19. Adel:

Fear of rejection due to making a mistake; guilt; the fact that society promotes success over failure; the fact that we identify with our failures rather than successes…

I’ve failed enough to know that I’m a successful project under construction. I don’t care anymore.

  20. Fear of rejection not fitting in with the crowd, or people we love. Ive been so afraid of making the mistakes,I will myself into them. Fear of the unknown again, but fully knowing any consequences of my choices.

  21. We hurt the others, get ourselves hurt and we lose someone or something we treasure when we make a mistake. That is why, in my opinion, we are always afraid to make a mistake even though we know that we will learn from our mistake. We are afraid of getting hurt once again. Scared of losing someone we love again.

  22. Gail:

we may learn from mistakes, and we may be punished for our mistakes. maybe it goes back to how our parents treated us when we made mistakes in childhood. most of us do not like being punished, so try not to make mistakes. and of course mistakes can be so costly – huge mistakes are cause for great suffering and monumental damage. small mistakes make better learning experiences

  23. Jason:

The reason we’re afraid of making mistakes, is because we have been beaten not to do ’em.
As we grow up, as we ‘learn from our mistakes’ we are taught not to do wrong.
We are taught not to make mistakes, because with mistakes comes consequences.
We have misinterpreted the idea of mistakes and wrong doing, and thus have tried to avoid both.
We have been yelled at for trying to poor a glass of milk by ourselves when it spills.
We have been scolded for trying something out of the kindness of our hearts.
And as reward for learning by doing we have been taught to be afraid.
But as the old sayings stays.
Their’s not point in crying over spilled milk.
Their’s always a towel near by to clean up the mess.

  24. April:

    They still hurt.

  25. kristen:

  28. Aimee:

Because since birth we have been conditioned to think that mistakes are bad. That failing is a horrible thing. That we should be sad and feel guilty when we don’t succeed. We are made afraid to live.

  29. Samantha:

because if we make mistakes we feel like we are failures and like we have let those around us down

  31. Ris:

We’re afraid to make a mistake because we’re scared of the pain that may come with it. The pain of feeling like you failed or messed up and can’t fix it.

  32. Nick:

Because we are afraid of the bad consequences that may happen with those mistakes.

  33. Michael Hitchcock:

The judgment of the weak and stupid and fickle. We want to be liked and respected.

  34. Rowena:

Just because we learn from them doesn’t mean they don’t hurt. We learn from the pain.

  35. Nick:

Many people are afraid to do the right thing since then think it will be the wrong thing. They think that if you make a mistake that you can’t do anything about it but you can learn from everything you do in life. Mistakes are made and sometimes you just have to forget it and move on and learn from what you did. We are so afraid to make mistakes because we are afraid of being judged, that people will think less of us and in the back of our minds we all want to be perfect. We are afraid if we make a mistake it will happen again and again and think it will become a pattern for the future. We think once we start to fail, we will become failures and that we won’t become the best we can. The fear of rejection is always in our mind and we try and not to fail so we don’t think about it.
