  1. bonnie:

Do what you love and surround yourself with people you love and who love you back.

  2. Jay:

First, love your self, then find happiness within yourself, then find yourself outside of yourself. ie See the beauty in your own spirit, then find beauty that reflects that.

  3. S:

your eyes. Michelangelo includes the hands. I think so also.

  4. S:

    different or the same. both.

  5. S:

but not y o u r s . also. 🙂 what? what does that even mean? probably that I’m confused. Trust, I guess, and Faith. And remembering and forgetting and or

  6. S:

Michelangelo had really peculiar uses of proportion also, or they looked that way but were even more perfect because it is in 2d. sorry

  7. Another girl:

Just really do what you love in life, have people in your life that care for you and want the best for you, obviously you have to love them and care for them as well. Finding your own way is important though, even if you don’t become rich and famous, there is always a way to get happiness, you just have to figure out what that is to you.

  8. S:

wait, can i take that back? i mean, can I start over? not from the beginning, exactly, but you know…i could do with a better eraser or hand or editor or not.

  9. Removing fear. Fear prevents a lot of people from challenging obstacles in their path, prevents people from making new friends or making better situations out of “bad” ones, and keeps people separated.

  10. Angria:

Hmmm….still trying to figure that one out. I think loving yourself for who you are and not trying to change, not making any decisions for yourself based on how others will think of your choice.

But sometimes, that still doesn’t work.

  11. Marguerite:

listening to your heart and useing your head

  12. anon:

make peace with yourself. then go help other people make peace with themselves. has to be in that order though!

There is no direct route. Happiness doesn’t come with a how-to guide, you just gotta wing it and hope for the best.

  17. abbey:

Jesus Christ :] for me, at least.

  18. molly:

  19. Kathryn:

Getting away from what causes the unhappiness.Oh yeah, can’t forget antidepressants.

  20. anon:

Focusing on love/friends/family, helping others, making others happy and smile, spending time with friends, making art, listening to and playing music, going on uplifting sites like these, lifting things that make me happy or that I’m grateful for, reaching out to others, staying as optimistic and hopeful as possible, focusing on the good in situations/people, using my newfound sense of perspective, talking to my grandmother, making new friends, getting sleep, looking forward to the future, etc…

These things I think many can relate to in some way. In my case, a vital part of the equation is also therapy and antidepressants as I have clinical depression, and if you think you might, I urge you to reach out and get the care you deserve to be happy!

  21. Jessica:

learn that you can never be perfect and learn how to not worry about the things you can’t control.

  22. Inge:

“Happiness is not a destination. It is a method of life.”

  23. Heath:

Happiness (by definition) is a state of mind, so the best ‘route’ to it is through your thoughts. You must first understand who you really are, and then learn to love, trust and forgive that person, despite all of their faults 🙂 Then you can work at becoming who you want to be, without punishing or hating yourself. When you are a peace with yourself and you’re on a path to becoming (or being) who you want to be (starting inside your head, but branching out into the concrete world), then happiness will find you.

  24. randomteen:

  33. Aaron:

I’ve asked myself this before. I figure if I’m going to be happy, then first I must love myself and be able to help myself. How can I help others when I can’t even help myself? My friend tries to help others too often, but I always tell him that.

  34. philip thorn:

  35. Maya:

“being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect, it means you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections”

Just to love both yourself and others and be loved back. See the positive side of things as perspective is very important

  38. Sarah:

Agree With Inge, I always used that quote myself

“Happiness is not a destination, but a way of life”

You need to see all the good things in your life and be happy for them, see it from the bigger perspective, see all the things you are lucky to have which some people don’t.

Almost no matter what your problems might be, there are always other people in the world with more serious problems than your own.

Give love, get love – be happy !

  39. Nick:

Live life right, enjoy it with the right people.

  45. Roxy:

There is no ‘route’ to happiness. It is not in the future nor is it something that can be achieved. Happiness only exists in the moment and that moment is now =)

  46. Happiness is not a destination, it is a way of riding!

  47. anonimus:

being satisfied with what you have.

  48. Franz:

Staying right where you are. Happiness is not doing what you enjoy, but enjoying what you do. You can achieve it either way.
