  1. I like to go for at least a 15-minute walk in a nearby park (preferably in the morning) at least 5 days a week. I find it gets my blood moving, gets some oxygen in my lungs, gets some light in my eyes, gets my endorphins going and basically elevates my mood for the rest of the day.

A simple test to see if this might be helpful for you, is to go for a walk in the morning for 7 days and write down on a piece of paper everyday how you feel (on a scale from 1 to 10) before and after you walk.

I took this test and everyday I was at least a number or two higher (happier) after the walk. It was hard to deny when I saw it in black and white. I felt better everyday I walked and now I have been walking at least 5 days a week for over a year and a half.

About 8 months ago I got married for the first time and I’m now happily married!

To see that there is no intrinsic thing as happyness or unhappyness but our thinking makes it so. To find out there is a joy beyond happyness and unhappyness. If one sees that then it does not matter one is poor or rich, healthy or not, married or single or in whatever condition he can be joyful.

To be happy… count more of your blessings, even the ones that don’t seem worth counting, like the fact there is a solid ground under your feet, or air in your lungs – all these little things support your existence and are very valuable to you – love them and you will be happy!

Focus. If you focus on positive things you will feel happier than if you focus on negative things. Imagine looking at a huge mural of different scenes from modern life, some happy and some tragic. You can’t see everything at once. If you focus on the sections of the mural with happy and beautiful images, you will feel happy. If you foucs on the sections of the mural with tragic and greusome images, you will feel disturbed. You choose where to look.

  24. Heather:

    Be yourself.

I’ve learned that life is a lot better when you’ve stopped worrying about fitting in and started being yourself instead. It’s not worth the trouble of changing yourself to fit in, because no matter how unhappy you are now you will be unhappier when you change yourself to fit the popularity. You will be way happier and more successful.

Popularity is a waste of time. People build these empires for themselves, but in reality it means nothing. Nobody is going to care whether you were the nerd or the prom queen when you’re applying for a job. It doesn’t matter. Popularity is the only way of those people getting power. They have no other way. Remember that and life isn’t as bad as it was.

  27. Melanie:

dont let people try to run your life, be yourself and dont listen to what other people say. your perfectly you and nobody should try to change that. live as if the world was going to end tomorrow and love your life. someone else’s happiness shouldnt be essential to your own. you dont need anyone but yourself. think happy = be happy .
